Welcome to DK's Workshop!

Pictures of the instruments I'm building

Well, it's like this...
  • I've been gathering up parts and wood and building molds, &
  • and I got majorly sidetracked doing database development for the local Family Service Agency AND I finished their web pages, so... I was all set to start a while ago, then I got busy...
  • repairing instruments... mostly old guitars from the 20's & 30's for resale, mostly parlor-size guitars... then I got busy...
  • working on the CD for the Old Time Country & Blues Revue, and am still working on that...
  • But, finally!  I started building on April 23 & taking pictures of the work in progress!

I've been keeping busy with little projects, like...
Cutting Ebony nut blanks Making jigs for cutting pearl with a diamond blade... saw is enclosed in a box with a plexiglass top, Shop Vac hose attaches to the back... Saw is in box backwards to throw the dust towards the vaccum port, so all the work is pulled towards me.  Strange, but otherwise the dust comes out the opening in the front of the box!   Not good! Cutting the angle... I use the big jig to cut the strips, then simply place a strip on the angle jig & slide it in the miter slot to cut the first angle. Cutting the diamond... Jig holds the pearl with a piece of cork glued to the bottom of the piece of top wood.  Makes a perfect cut, every time!  Since it's a diamond blade, the cut is very clean, and no sanding is needed.  A great timesaver for a minimal investment in money and time! The finished product, in three different kinds of inlay material.
